Renowned printmaker Noriko Yanagisawa is set to showcase her latest works at Art Front Gallery. This exhibition marks Yanagisawa’s return to the spotlight since her solo exhibition in 2001, as well as her captivating “Witches’ 99” exhibition in 2008 and participation in the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial in 2003.
Throughout her career, Yanagisawa has delved into the realm of printmaking, using various motifs such as wings, birds, half-human, half-beast creatures, and ammonites to express her artistic vision. However, in recent years, her focus has shifted to the animals affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake and the aftermath of nuclear testing, particularly after her visit to Chernobyl in 2015.
To convey these pressing issues with heightened realism, the exhibition will feature Yanagisawa’s new works on parchment, gampi paper, and other materials. Additionally, some pieces will incorporate directly adhered drawings, adding an extra layer of depth and texture to her creations.
Among the prints on display, “Words spoken by animals – Sea field I, II” references the Bikini Atoll, while “Words spoken by animals – N.Lat.72°, 90°” abstractly depicts Ukraine after the Russian invasion, symbolized through the depiction of tanks.

De gerenommeerde graficus Noriko Yanagisawa zal haar nieuwste werken tentoonstellen bij Art Front Gallery. Deze tentoonstelling markeert Yanagisawa’s terugkeer naar de schijnwerpers sinds haar solotentoonstelling in 2001, evenals haar fascinerende tentoonstelling “Witches’ 99” in 2008 en haar deelname aan de Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial in 2003.
